My lovely mentor – Natascha Seideneck, from MSU Denver, repeated the advice that I had heard from several of my critiques at the last residency to “loosen up”! Her specific suggestion was to get out and literally “shoot from the hip” and to carry my camera around waste high, on auto focus, and just shoot street scenes, people, and anything else that intrigued me. I wandered around downtown Denver and shot hundreds of photos. These are some street portraits that I captured of strangers and I was amazed at the process of doing this shooting without my normal obsession over framing, and lighting, etc. It was very freeing, and I am pleased with some of these images!
